Starting this blog: what Nami Smart LLC does

We have opened the Nami Smart LLC engineering blog. We will write about the decisions we make while building, and how the products we run are put together.

What kind of company this is

A small team building software that costs little to run and does not break easily, mostly on Cloudflare Workers, D1 and Pages, with no monthly server bill.

• Rakuteam, a multi-tenant SaaS for running a sports club
• arukutomaru, a cross-border shop with no fixed costs

The database library both of them use, orm-d1, is ours and is published as open source.

How we decide

1. No fixed costs. While revenue is still unknown, stay on usage-based platforms.
2. Types across boundaries. Types run from the database schema through the API to the front end, so a mismatch fails the build instead of the deployment.
3. Decisions in writing. ADRs record the options we rejected and why, which is also how we hand work over to AI coding agents.
